To make these, take some sugar in a mixing bowl, slowly add a teaspoon of water at a time until you've made a paste - stop once the sugar sticks together so that it's not too wet. Add some food colouring, then press flat onto some baking parchment or greaseproof paper about 1cm thick.
Use a heart cutter (I've used these) to cut out the hearts, and leave to dry overnight. I think these would be perfect for baby showers, wedding favours and afternoon tea. I don't actually have sugar in my tea, but I might be tempted to start.
