Wine Charms

You know that point in the evening when you're at a BBQ or dinner party, you put your glass down and when you go back you can't remember which one was yours? Never again! You can make these beaded wine charms with a few cheap ingredients and personalise them (using charms, initals etc) however you want. Christmas present idea anyone?!

You will need:
Wire, or I have used kidney earring fasteners (like these) and shaped them into a circle. They're good because they already have a catch.
Various beads & charms
Wire cutters / pliers

If you're using earring fasteners like me, you'll need to shorten them a bit, shape them into a circle and then use the pliers to bend end to hook into the catch.

Word of warning: if you hate fiddly things don't try this project. Everything is quite tiny!

Coconut Macaroons

These days when you say macaroon, you think Ladurée, beautiful multi coloured macaroons from Paris. These are based on coconut rather than almond, they're not as pretty but they are SO GOOD! Little bundles of chewy sweet coconutty goodness.

You will need:
2 eggs
225g dessicated coconut
150g icing sugar

A great simple recipe - just mix it all up in a bowl. You can use caster sugar if you don't have icing sugar. Roll the mixture into small balls and put them onto a non stick tray or onto baking paper. Bake at 180C for 25 minutes or until they are nicely golden. Once they are cold you can also drizzle or dip them in dark chocolate.
