Crochet Hearts (Learn to Crochet)

After learning to knit, I wanted to learn to crochet to see which I prefer. I'm still undecided - I find crochet is simpler and more portable, but I think there's a lot more you can do with knitting. This heart was my first crochet project - aren't they cute? I made a lot in December and hung them on the Christmas tree, now I am using them as gift wrapping decorations.

You will need:
Crochet hook (I have 3.5mm)
Double knitting wool
Pair of scissors

All stitches worked into the first chain.
Ch 4. Work 3 tr (triple crochet) into first ch, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tr. Ch 3, sl st into centre and fasten off.

If this makes absolutely no sense to you, read on!

The pattern I have used for my hearts is from Little Birdie Secrets. If you click through you will find great video there of how to do them. If you are new to crochet, I would recommend that you start by learning some of the stitches first as the video is quite fast.

Now have a go at the heart pattern! You are basically creating chains of stitches which all link back to the centre of the heart. The centre is the first chain stitch you do. Hopefully the diagram above makes a little more sense of the pattern. You'll be knocking out hearts no time!
